MEDICAL HEALTH FACILITIES AND SERVICES
With a population of 11,517 for 1995 and a total of one (1) doctor throughout the municipality. There is a current need to increase its number to a total of ten (10) to meet the standard requirement of (1) doctor for 1,000 population. In terms of nurses and midwives, only one (1) nurse and two (2) midwives are actively serving the municitpality. Considering the standard of one (1) nurse or midwives per 5000 population, the municipality has enough midwives and is currently in need of one (1) more nurse. The inadequacy of medical personnel is due to limited financial resources of the municipal government.
The major function of the rural health unit include presentive and rehabilitative aspect of health care such as immunization, family planning, maternal and child care, public health education and environmental sanitation.
Supporting the Rural Health Unit in its functions is one barangay health center located in Brgy. Pook, said health center receive supervisory visits twice a week for a medical team which conducts free medical consulation and give free medicines.
Curative cases that requires minor and major operations are refered to hospitals in the nearby city and municipality where there are competent medical personnel and complete facilities. Due to proximity to San Pablo City the municipal residents ate totally dependent on San Pablo medical assistance and hospitalization. For this reason, the local government's desire to put up a hospital of their own is far behind.
